But Samuel ministered before the Lord, a child girded with a linen ephod.1 Samuel 2:18 AMPC
Samuel was Hannah and Elkanah’s son. Ms. Hannah here prayed in spirit and in truth asking God to bless her with a child, and promised God that this child will serve Him. Yes; Ms. H fulfilled her promise. But today it’s not about Sister H, we want to look at Sam.
Once he was weaned, his parents took him to serve the Lord. This scripture says a “child”, some translations refer to him as a ‘boy’. Serving God isn’t determined by your age, background, circumstance. We were all born for a purpose and I believe the greatest of them all is to serve the Lord. To fear Him. To honor Him with our bodies, respecting them as His temple.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being found at the Lord’s feet at a young age, that is what Our Father in Heaven wants. I have studied Science, and am still studying, being in an academic institution doesn’t mean I should disregard my first calling.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. [Exod. 33:12; Isa. 49:1, 5; Rom. 8:29. Jeremiah 1:5 AMPC]
Do not miss the mark because you want to impress the world.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.Romans 12:2 NIV

let us pray
Lord, Help us from a young age to be true to our calling. Help us to figure out our purpose and yield our lives to serving You. Building Your Kingdom. Amen
