Fear paralyses us and hinders us from reaching our destiny. God has a perfect plan set out for us, but because our faith is short circuited, we miss out on living a fulfilling life. We must learn to fight fear, fight it with faith. Faith in Christ. Faith that comes by hearing the Lord’s Word. If the Lord’s word dwells deep within the crevices of our hearts, we are set for great things. The Word of God says that we are overcomers, and even this fear we can overcome it. Yes, on more than one occasion it will confront us, however, we must have our sword of the spirit in hand at all times.
The Word of God in 2 Timothy 1:7 says “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”. Let’s look at the 3 facts within this verse…
Power… Now when Christ addressed His disciples after He defeated death, He promised them that they will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon them (Acts 1:8, AMPC But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you). We have power, ability, might, efficiency, therefore we can not bow down to fear. We have the authority to trample upon serpents and lions.
Love… God is love, love covers a multitude of sins, therefore this love that we have been given and the fact that He is love, should do away with any trace of fear that might want to cripple us.
Sound mind…We are Co-heirs with Christ, we are a chosen generation. The Word of God encourages us on more than one occasion to be still and know that He is God. Being still and sober-minded helps to make rational Holy Spirit-led decisions.
Do not let the devil steal your joy and peace, call on Christ’s name to remove and deal with all your fears. Here are a few scriptures that can set you on a faith-filled path:
Psalm 46:10… Knowing God
Isaiah 41:10… God is always with you. He is all powerful and able to handle any problem or injustice you face.
