For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.2 Timothy 1:7 NIV
The Spirit that God gave us…His Spirit. Thank You, Lord, for this gift. The most perfect blessing. His Spirit is the greatest treasure because it doesn’t make us timid. A timid individual quivers at a slight change in their circumstance. But we, the Children of God, that are called according to His purpose, know that He is the same powerful God that parted the Red Sea, that gave Abram and Sarah a child at a very old age. And He is still the same today.
This God has imparted on us a spirit of power, to negate sin, to reduce it to its smallness. To declare that yes I might get a little irritated, but the sun won’t go down whilst I am still angry. God gave us a spirit of love, and as His Radiant lights, we are going to distribute this love even during these trying times, for we serve a Mighty Warrior. Our Faith will keep pushing mountains, opening doors. Our Faith will put us in a position to say, forgive me Lord for I have not loved properly. You are a God that loves properly.
His spirit has given us self-control, self-discipline. Ohh, Sweet Jesus. Self-control to be in charge of our lives. To carry ourselves in a manner that pleases God. Self-control to be His true, Kingdom disciples. To take responsibility for our messes and ask God to make us more wiser so we do not repeat those mistakes. Self-control to make time, “essential time” for God’s Word, to be in His presence and hear from Him. Self-control to keep being transformed by His Word.
Thank You, Lord, for this Powerful Spirit that You have bestowed upon us. We believe that You really love us and have us in mind at all times. In the name of Jesus. Amen
