Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.Joshua 1:8
As a young wife, mother, servant of God, and author I envisage leading a balanced life. I love reading, and if I had all the time in the world, I would use it to read the Word of God and to read Christian/spiritual books.
I have been reading a book called “A woman after God’s own heart” by Elizabeth George. It is such a gem. Our hearts should first and foremost be devoted to God. The point of departure for this is abiding in the Word of God. The scripture above says that this book of the law should always be on our lips. We must meditate upon it day and night and ensure that we live according to Word. In that way, we will be prosperous. The type of prosperity that I want is not material as it leads many to worship and idolize getting the next big material thing. I want to see my marriage prosper, I want to see my kids abiding by the laws of God. I want to be a prayer warrior. I want to flourish like a tree planted by the streams of water. I want good health and peaceful rest at night. I want to be a beacon of hope for the hopeless and faithless. I want God’s light to brighten every room I walk into. I want godly wisdom, it is the utmost perfect gift, better than the rest. I want my husband and kids to love and bless me.
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises herProverbs 31:28
I want their future wives to be godly and have a great role model. I want to be a great mentor and a great friend. I want to leave a good Word of encouragement with all that I meet. This for me, that says I am rich, I have arrived. This is the prosperity that I want.
Romans 11:36 tells us that God is the sustainer of everything and out of Him came everything, and everything should find fulfillment in Him. If we decide to be blinded by the flesh and live a life that contradicts God’s statutes, we will not enjoy the prosperity and success that He grants to those that keep His Word hidden in their hearts.
This Week’s Prayer
Lord, help me to treasure Your Word. To read it, study and meditate on it day and night. Let my mind be focused on doing everything that is written in it that will cause me to prosper. Thank You Heavenly Father. In the Mighty name of Jesus. Amen
