Then Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the Lord ; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance.1 Samuel 2:1 NIV
Hannah was a troubled woman who didn’t have a child. Hannah was a prayer warrior. Hannah is a good example of James 5:16-17. I am quite sure she also prayed for Peninnah. Hannah prayed without ceasing, she could have prayed whilst sleeping, or in our modern-day, during a board meeting. Hannah went to the temple and asked God for a child. Her heart rejoiced in the Lord for He had heard her cries. He remembered her. He ensured that she does not fall. Hannah trusted God. She didn’t doubt His ability. And by fulfilling her promise to God, God gave her exceedingly, abundantly and beyond what she had requested.
Jesus Christ said, no one will get to my Father except through me. Could it be that long prayer of yours is not directed properly? Do you believe in Jesus Christ?
Like Hannah, we have been given hearts that God can cleanse, and even though we are troubled, we do not offend others. We guard what comes out of our mouths because the power of life and death lies in the tongue. We guard our hearts, issues of life flow from there.
Hannah had time for God, she knew who to pour her heart to. Who do you run to when things go haywire? Trust God. Be like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God. Trust in His unfailing love.
We are closing this devotion series with her prayer..and Remember Ephesians 6:18
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,Ephesians 6:18-19 NIV
Then Hannah prayed and said:
“My heart rejoices in the Lord ; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance.
“There is no one holy like the Lord ; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.
“Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed.
“The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength. Those who were full hire themselves out for food, but those who were hungry are hungry no more. She who was barren has borne seven children, but she who has had many sons pines away.
“The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up. The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor.
“For the foundations of the earth are the Lord ’s; on them, he has set the world. He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness.
“It is not by strength that one prevails; those who oppose the Lord will be broken. The Most High will thunder from heaven; the Lord will judge the ends of the earth.
“He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.”
Trust God. Keep praying. God loves the aroma of prayer from His righteous Children. If we humble ourselves and pray, He will heal our land.
